unlock.org is a non-partisan, open source political data platform.
our first project is the 2026 california initiative data project
our current initiative tracking spreadsheet is below
about us
we track the progress of initiatives attempting to become propositions on the november ballot
we engage voters across the political spectrum during the initiative signature gathering process.
a portion of the proceeds from paid signature gathering goes to finance the operation and expansion of our platform.
when we engage voters while gathering signatures, we offer them the option to connect with us for further information about the initiatives they're most interested in, both those voters who signed or refused, and those who needed more information. for the latter category, we provide updates about where they can connect with us to sign in the near future, should they decide to do so, to further support our work.
when those initiatives become propositions, we provide insights based on data, including the 'wisdom of the crowds' surfaced during the signature gathering process.
advocacy organizations that meet ethical, transparent anti-spam and anti-scam requirements will be offered limited opportunities to connect with those who signed initiatives to mobilize them further, both for _and_ against the proposition.
as we scale, we're also creating a platform for participating signature gatherers to stay connected with those who signed with them, to reconnect in the future.
by providing both transparency and the opportunity for advocacy, we create a more efficient, honest marketplace of ideas, empowering voters with more information while enabling honest grassroots advocates to become more effective.
